About the Role
Real Chemistry is seeking an Account Director to lead client accounts, provide strategic counsel, and manage internal teams to ensure excellence in delivery and drive account growth.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary client contact, managing relationships and setting expectations.
- Oversee the delivery of client work programs to the highest standard, within agreed timeframes and budgets.
- Coach junior team members on client relationship management and problem-solving.
- Challenge clients to ensure the delivery of optimal work.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of clients' businesses and market factors to provide strategic counsel.
- Formulate objectives and strategies for new client work and ensure program strategy execution.
- Facilitate client meetings and workshops, managing challenging conversations.
- Lead and execute projects with adaptability and flexibility.
- Identify organic growth opportunities within existing accounts and propose new ideas.
- Identify new business opportunities outside of existing accounts.
- Support the new business process, including the production of credentials and RFP responses.
- Lead the development of content for the annual internal account planning process.
- Develop an authentic leadership style, instilling professional values and good work habits.
- Inspire, motivate, and empower team members, leading by example.
- Promote and protect team culture within the Medical Communications team.
- Facilitate cross-learning and sharing of best practices among team members.
- Promote clear communication between accounts, MW, PM, creative, strategists, and other business functions.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to junior team members and manage their performance.
- Support interviewing for new junior account team members.
- Line manage at least one account team member, providing support and career development guidance.
- Manage the financial aspects of client business and participate in financial processes.
- Develop accurate client budgets and track resource utilization.
- Forecast financial performance and alert senior leadership to potential changes.
- Ensure account profitability and address issues like over-service or scope creep.
- Participate in internal initiatives that contribute to team or company culture and development.
- Stay informed about award-winning work and industry insights, sharing relevant information.
- Regularly participate in new business opportunities.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a high science subject.
- Excellent business communication skills, including presentation and writing.
- Ability to lead cross-functional internal teams.
- Skilled in data communication and presentation development.
- Ability to develop solutions to client needs and problems.
- Strong work ethic and a track record of high-quality deliverables on schedule and budget.
- Leadership skills with experience in leading and developing junior staff.
- Experience and capability to support and drive new business operations.
- High energy and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Supervisory skills with the ability to manage and cultivate junior staff.
- Demonstrated growth and experience in management roles.
- Project management experience, including meeting deadlines, prioritizing, and managing budgets.
- Professional presence with a sense of urgency and client service orientation.
- Adaptable, resilient, and able to adjust scope, responsibilities, and focus as the company grows.
