About the Role

The Outdoor Programming Attendant delivers outdoor programming and recreation experiences for guests, leading guided activities, supporting private events, maintaining trails and equipment, and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential for guest and staff interaction, representing the Inns of Aurora's outdoor offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Host and lead outdoor guest activities including hikes, archery, and wildlife observation.
  • Assist in facilitating private outdoor programming for individual guests, groups, and retreats.
  • Lead guided hikes up to approximately 3 miles while sharing information about the landscape, ecology, and local history.
  • Monitor and assess weather conditions to ensure guest safety during outdoor activities.
  • Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Create welcoming, engaging guest interactions and foster repeat participation through strong relationship building.
  • Maintain the outdoor trail network through mowing, vegetation management, spreading wood chips, and assisting with tree removal.
  • Operate and maintain outdoor equipment including UTVs for trail work and activity setup.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and scheduled maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, including weekly UTV cleaning during muddy seasons.
  • Assist with winter operations including plowing and salting driveways and pathways.
  • Step in to host activities when staffing gaps arise.
  • Maintain accurate records related to programming and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot unexpected operational challenges such as equipment malfunctions during guest activities.
  • Respond quickly and calmly to resolve issues while maintaining a positive guest experience.
  • Support a wide range of operational needs as a “jack-of-all-trades” for outdoor programming.
  • Perform basic carpentry repairs and maintenance for outdoor infrastructure including platforms, bridges, and kiosks.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of guest expectations in a luxury resort or hospitality setting.
  • Ability to participate in outdoor and physically demanding activities.
  • Comfortable working in both office and outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Outdoor survival basics, including fire building and water sourcing/sanitation
