About the Role
The Shelter / Program Director is responsible for the functioning and daily operation of the DHS Adult Family Shelter Program.
Responsibilities
- Functions as a leader and facilitator within the area of responsibility and establishes and maintains effective lines of communication with all staff.
- Provides clinical consultation and crisis intervention as required.
- Responsible for human resource management, including staffing, recruitment, orientation, evaluations, competency reviews, and credentialing.
- Ensures staff development and training activities are carried out according to an established plan.
- Completes all paperwork in a timely and accurate manner and forwards it to the appropriate personnel.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the needs of “The Richmond” during budget preparation and complies with the approved program budget.
- Continuously monitors all expenses and revenues appropriately.
- Authorizes check requisitions under $1000.
- Serves in a marketing, professional, and community relations capacity to ensure the program is well known and respected.
- Participates in program development and the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensures all reports are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Understands and utilizes information from oversight, compliance, and regulatory sources and integrates it into daily program operation.
- Attends meetings with DHS and other agencies as directed.
- Complies with all OTDA “900 Series” regulations and monitors legal and contractual obligations.
- Provides ongoing supervision of staff.
- Conducts clinical and administrative staff meetings as per agency policy and maintains minutes.
- Responsible for facility management, ensuring the program area is clean, maintained, and conducive to client goals.
- Responsible for the appropriate maintenance of all equipment inventories.
- Ensures compliance with program goals and objectives as specified internally and externally.
- Oversees census issues with DHS to ensure the shelter operates at or near full capacity.
- Participates in internal and external professional activities that further the goals of the program and the field of family homeless services.
- Provides 24/7 on-call support to program staff as needed.
Requirements
- Requires a minimum of four years’ experience in the fields of homeless services, substance abuse and/or mental health treatment.
- Requires a minimum of two years of administrative and/or supervisory experience in the fields of homeless services, substance abuse and/or mental health treatment.
- Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess the highest degree of skills in working with individuals and groups.
- Requires computer knowledge and fiscal skills sufficient to respond to external regulatory agencies and internal agency needs.
- Must conduct himself/herself with the utmost professionalism and uphold the highest moral and ethical standards at all times.
- Must have the physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
- Shall perform any duties as required to meet the needs of the program and the clients we serve.
