About the Role

The Assistant Director of Human Resources assists the Director of Human Resources with various HR functions, including timely filling of hourly positions, accurate paperwork completion, and enforcement of company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Administer insurance benefits, calculate billing totals, explain benefits, assist with enrollment forms, and answer questions.
  • Compile and distribute review lists to departments.
  • Compile and distribute Turnover Reports.
  • Enter payroll information, including wage changes.
  • Conduct prescreening interviews.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and maintain an unemployment logbook.
  • Maintain logbooks for new hires, terminations, transfers, and promotions.
  • Audit payroll reports for benefit eligibility.
  • Compile wage surveys.
  • Monitor and maintain Leave of Absence log.
  • Monitor Workman’s Compensation claims and complete necessary reports.
  • Answer questions regarding 401K Plan, vacation, and benefits.
  • Maintain complimentary room night log and process employee requests.
  • Prepare and place recruitment advertising.
  • Process paperwork for terminating employees.
  • Schedule and assist in Orientation, including explaining benefits and conducting property tours.
  • Write articles and take pictures for the property newsletter.
  • Assist with special projects and plan employee events.
  • Maintain First Aid log.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • A 4-year college degree.
  • At least 3 years of progressive Human Resources Management experience in a hotel or related industry.
  • Recruitment experience in the hospitality field.
  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Previous supervisory responsibility.
  • College coursework in a related field is helpful.
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of employment laws is helpful.
  • Long hours may be required.
  • Sedentary work involving exerting up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests.
  • Be attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented in all encounters.
  • Effectively listen to, understand, and clarify concerns.
  • Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Attend all hotel-required meetings and trainings.
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with scheduling needs.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
  • Maximize productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Effectively handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them.
  • Understand and evaluate complex information from various sources.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
