About the Role

Responsible for conceptualizing products with the Innovation & Marketing team, commissioning new production lines, and developing or enhancing products to meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform shelf-life testing, attend tastings, collate data, and advise on next steps.
  • Lead formulation, scaling, baking, and packaging of lab and customer samples.
  • Independently maintain TVC & PDS records for formulation, costing, and Critical to Quality Points.
  • Own product development for a production line and two product categories.
  • Independently direct plant trials and FRPs, and pre-trial meetings.
  • Keep detailed records on plant trial production details, outcomes, labor headcount, and suitability to production with Tech Services support.
  • Record accurate formula data including recipes, methodology, deposit weights, and baking losses.
  • Follow test kitchen samples for translation to the plant floor.
  • Formulate new product innovations and line extensions through to commercialization.
  • Direct Product Development Assistant to place and close Purchase Orders for needed Plant Trial ingredients with Suppliers.
  • Execute commercialization of products with Tech Services support, owning personal project load and being flexible to workload changes.
  • Assist Product Developers and Tech Services when required.
  • Formulate, scale, bake, label, and package lab and customer samples.
  • Record data in computer systems to save information for recipes in TVCs.
  • Ensure formulas are scaled to best accommodate ingredient pack sizes in the plant.
  • Identify areas of improvement and concerns, and recommend product upgrades to meet changing business demands.
  • Schedule regular meetings to discuss new product ideas and issues.
  • Observe all SQF and HACCP policies.
  • Troubleshoot as necessary to ensure product success.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the Food Manufacturing industry.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working as a Product Developer Assistant or Coordinator.
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial bakery ingredients, production processes, and equipment capability.
  • Good understanding of GMP, HACCP, GFSI (BRC, SQF), and Food Allergens.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate, and follow up.
  • Ability to lead, work independently, and in a team environment.
  • Solid understanding of urgency in responding to internal and external partners.
