Responsibilities

• Accurately and completely report and document status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, and contacts with patients or other healthcare providers.
• Refill medications following clinic protocols.
• Accurately and completely room patients, take and document vital signs, and prepare patients for provider examination.
• Follow clinic protocols and directions from the nursing team leader or supervisor.
• Perform diagnostic testing including EKGs, audiograms, tympanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings with appropriate reporting and documentation.
• Monitor inventory of medical and office supplies and equipment, ensuring proper stocking and that supplies are current and not expired. Order supplies as needed.
• Review Provider refill in basket and assist with daily medication refill requests using clinic refill protocols.
• Review EPIC triage call in basket for any callbacks.
• Clean patient rooms as needed, including proper handling of dirty laundry.
• Ensure the laundry cart is stocked with fresh linens daily.
• Assist providers with sigmoidoscopy exams and cardiac stress testing by setting up equipment, assisting with patient preparation, and cleaning and storing equipment after the exam. Report and document appropriately.
• Maintain equipment (autoclaves, sterilizes, washes speculums, checks expiration dates, etc.).
• Adhere to all company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.
• Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
• Follow core competencies set forth by the Company.
• Work holiday shifts as required by Company policy.
• Administer medications and injections (LVN).
• Provide direct nursing care to patients and distribute medications and treatments under physician order (LVN).
• Teach and counsel patients and families concerning health assessment and care, including disease prevention and health maintenance (LVN).
• Provide vaccine management including ordering and monitoring vaccine usage/wastage, facilitating vaccine maintenance, participating in educational opportunities, utilizing the Texas Vaccine for Children Provider Manual, and completing reportable documentation (LVN).
• Facilitate the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the immunization program (LVN).
• Call patients and inform them of lab results (LVN).
• Perform patient follow-up activities including laboratory results and diagnostics, appointments, referrals, medications, and call backs (LVN).
• Participate in the orientation of new employees (LVN).
• Provide patients with educational materials as directed (Staff Medical Assistant).
• Administer medication under physician’s direction and within the scope of practice (Staff Medical Assistant).
• Call and inform patients of normal lab results (Staff Medical Assistant).
• Review provider instructions regarding abnormal results (Staff Medical Assistant).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing (LVN).
• Previous experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting preferred (LVN).
• Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas (LVN).
• Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card required (LVN).
• Must maintain a current vocational nursing license and CPR certification during employment (LVN).

• Meet one of the following (Staff Medical Assistant): Medical Assistant experience, CNA/EMT/PCT experience providing direct patient care (beyond ADLs, including manual vitals and giving medications/injections), or graduate of a medical assistant program.
• Six (6) months or more experience as a Medical Assistant preferred (Staff Medical Assistant).
• Medical Assistant certification preferred (Staff Medical Assistant).
• Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card or within 60 days of hire required (Staff Medical Assistant).
• Ability to administer medications & injections within scope of position within 90 days of hire (Staff Medical Assistant).
• Knowledge of medical terminology (Staff Medical Assistant).
• Excellent organizational skills (Staff Medical Assistant).
• Excellent phone listening skills (Staff Medical Assistant).
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities (Staff Medical Assistant).
