About the Role

As a High School English Teacher, you will be student-facing the majority of the day. You will collaborate with your grade team and the instructional leadership team to internalize and develop curriculum, provide high-quality instruction, track student progress, and create a positive classroom culture. The goal is to prepare students with the skills, character, and well-being to excel academically and lead in their communities.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with grade team and instructional leadership team to internalize and develop curriculum.

Track and measure student progress, including managing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Create a positive classroom and school culture.
Engage in reflection and continuous improvement.
Demonstrate successful partnership with classroom co-teacher and utilize multiple co-teaching models (for ICT sections).

Requirements

Minimum of three years of experience in relevant educational positions teaching English/History.
Hold or be in the process of obtaining a New York State teaching certification for your subject/discipline area.
Ability to speak, write, and understand Spanish fluently (preferred).
Hold yourself to high professional and ethical standards.
Enjoy and/or have experience working with diverse populations of students and communities.
Believe that every student can and will learn when provided with a quality education.
Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally at-risk students.
Willingness to be flexible in your role and adapt to school and student needs.
Commitment to continuous improvement and learning through professional development.
