About the Role

Pelico runs as a set of microservices that deploy on a single VM and scale to Kubernetes. This role involves owning the packaging, deployment, and operation of Pelico in air-gapped, on-premise customer environments where the company has no access to logs or data. The goal is to enable customer IT teams to independently set up, run, diagnose, and recover the product. This is a player-coach role, requiring hands-on infrastructure work, customer interaction, and accountability for delivery. Key objectives include developing tooling for on-prem deployment and establishing a federal posture for GovCloud/FedRAMP compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Own how Pelico is packaged, deployed, and operated in environments without direct access.
  • Enable customer IT teams to stand up, run, diagnose, and recover Pelico independently.
  • Drive the development of on-prem deployment tooling and packaging for enterprise customers.
  • Establish a federal posture, including GovCloud/FedRAMP controls as code, for serving federal and defense customers.
  • Design observability and self-remediation for air-gapped environments, including diagnostics, remediation playbooks, health checks, and alert auto-classification.
  • Develop auto-diagnosis and auto-remediation capabilities.
  • Build Helm charts, Compose stacks, and Terraform/IaC for various deployment variants (on-prem single-VM, air-gapped Kubernetes, private-cloud).
  • Ensure deployments are clean and supported by runbooks for customer IT.
  • Turn enterprise deliverables into roadmaps with weekly checkpoints, MVP scope, and defined delivery dates.
  • Develop repeatable tooling to enable customer deployments without heroics.
  • Define RACI and SLAs with customer IT and security teams, establishing clear boundaries of responsibility.
  • Stay hands-on with infrastructure work (20-50%), set technical standards, and grow engineers.
  • Integrate AI tooling into team workflows.

Requirements

  • A track record operating enterprise software in environments not fully controlled (customer-owned/on-prem/air-gapped) or equivalent depth standing up regulated/government-cloud environments.
  • Deep, current hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform/IaC, and Docker/Compose.
  • Experience with managed Kubernetes (GKE/EKS/AKS) and on-prem/bare-metal deployments.
  • Experience with observability tools like Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, or Splunk.
  • Experience designing diagnostics and remediation for customer self-operation.
  • A record of owning committed enterprise deliverables end-to-end with customer IT, including RACI, SLAs, checkpoints, and scope.
  • Experience leading by example, ideally managing 3+ engineers or acting as a senior tech lead ready to build a team.
  • Comfort treating security and operability as infrastructure, designing for auditability and self-service in regulated, customer-owned, or on-prem environments.
