About the Role
This position focuses on financial reporting for RGA Japan, adhering to Japan reporting standards and statutory requirements. Responsibilities include managing local general ledger, submitting financial reports to Japanese regulators, handling tax filings, and supporting the Japan financial closing process. The role also involves assisting with RGA Japan's US GAAP financial closing and understanding related financial analysis and closing tasks. Prior experience in the insurance industry is advantageous, and the candidate should be a strong team player.
Responsibilities
- Japan GAAP and regulatory reporting
- Lead preparations of balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow and various reports required by regulators
- Lead executions of necessary control, check and analysis
- Treasury activity
- Support budgeting and business planning
- Cost analysis and expense control
- Support tax filing in Japan
- Handle internal and external audit
- Support US GAAP financial reporting and analysis
- Support for preparation of internal management information
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science or a related field
- Minimum 7 years' experience in financial accounting, reporting and operations
- Japan CPA, US CPA, Certified Tax Accountant and other equivalent certifications. Otherwise, Master's degree or strong experience in Finance field
- Native Japanese language proficiency and basic English (read and write)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving
- Proven time management skills and ability to multitask effectively
- Life insurance knowledge and Japan regulatory reporting is preferred
- Understanding actuarial background is preferred
- Corporate tax, consumption tax filing experiences is preferred
- Investment knowledge is preferred
- VBA and Access is preferred
