About the Role

The Category Manager, Protein will develop and execute sourcing strategies to improve cost structure, product quality, and supply chain reliability. This role supports innovation through new product development, oversees the Protein supply chain, manages vendor relationships, leads ingredient quality initiatives, and continuously improves sourcing processes. As part of the Procurement team, this role delivers value to customers.

Responsibilities

Refine and implement a sourcing and supply chain strategy for the protein category that optimizes process, reduces risk, and improves cost structure.
Build and maintain a strong supplier base aligned with company values; own relationships with strategic suppliers, including performance management and innovation activities.
Leverage internal datasets and industry benchmarks to drive continuous improvement, identify cost reduction opportunities, and implement best practices.
Develop a culture of continuous improvement through data-driven reporting and project management to identify and drive quality improvement opportunities.
Partner with the culinary team to prioritize and develop new products.
Develop and mentor a team of indirect reports.
Act as the subject matter expert in protein procurement.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or related discipline.
5+ years of related work experience, with a background in supply chain, operations, management consulting, or strategic sourcing.
Strong knowledge and interest in strategic sourcing and continuous improvement processes.
Experience leading and developing a team of direct and indirect reports.
Analytical and problem-solving expertise, using data to drive decisions.
Strong Excel skills.
Ability to influence, build, and effectively communicate a strategic plan to stakeholders at all levels.
Proactive, ambitious, and assertive.
Entrepreneurial mindset and passion for solving complex problems.
Awareness of potential allergen exposure in a food company environment; disclosure during the hiring process is required.
