About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Quantitative Developer to join our Quantitative Research & Development team in New York City. You will develop and maintain quantitative tools, analytics, and models supporting commercial decision-making in North American power and environmental markets, working closely with traders, analysts, and fellow quants. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to solve complex problems at the intersection of software engineering, mathematics, and commodity markets, gaining exposure to energy trading.
Responsibilities
- Support the West Power and Carbon trading desks by productionizing, optimizing, and supporting ML-based models.
- Enhance and maintain cloud-based infrastructure for prototyping and testing quantitative models.
- Contribute to the automation of trading and operational processes.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems impacting trading activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues across New York, Stamford, and Houston.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject or a related quantitative field from a premier academic institution.
- Two to four years of hands-on experience.
- Strong practical skills with Python (e.g., pandas/numpy/plotly/Jupyter).
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering best practices.
- Proficient with object-oriented design and programming.
- Knowledge of probability, statistics, linear algebra, and numerical methods.
- Experience building analytics dashboards using frameworks like Dash.
- Experience working with SQL and large datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills with technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to take ownership and improve processes.
