About the Role
Storehouse Voices, an imprint of Crown Publishing Group, seeks an organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven Editorial Assistant to provide administrative and editorial support to acquiring editors for commercial fiction and nonfiction titles.
Responsibilities
- Support and serve as a liaison for projects between editorial, internal departments, authors, and agents through the publication process, ensuring timely delivery of materials.
- Communicate and support editors with meeting cross-departmental deadlines for frontlist titles and upcoming reprints.
- Support the editorial team with author care and outreach for title interest and visibility.
- Track and evaluate a high volume of submissions, read projects under contract, write reader's reports and rejection letters, and research competitive titles.
- Assist with mailings, editors’ expense reports, contract initiation and routing, P&L creation, advance payment tracking, process development, preparation for launch presentations, and various administrative tasks.
- Maintain calendars and coordinate virtual and/or in-person meetings.
- Circulate and take meeting minutes for the editorial review board.
- Transmit manuscripts and accompanying materials, track permissions and missing items, and submit titles for legal reads.
- Draft supporting materials for upcoming titles, including book announcements, title information sheets, galley copy, cover copy, website copy, and reading group guides.
- Work closely with production, design, marketing, publicity, rights, and sales departments.
- Maintain and update key information and metadata in MyHouse.
- Support the editorial team with special projects including on-site video shoots and annual events.
- Manage title reprints and reprint corrections.
- Travel may be required.
Requirements
- At least one year of prior office experience or related internship is ideal.
- Keen attention to detail and proofreading ability.
- Ability to be organized and provide support in organizational implementation.
- Ability to anticipate needs and take initiative to solve problems.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced office environment.
- Ability to communicate regularly in a professional and timely manner with key stakeholders on scheduling, prioritization, and project status.
- Excellent writing, reading, online research, and analytical skills.
- Outstanding project management skills, including ability to meet deadlines while juggling multiple ongoing projects.
- Strong communication and follow-up skills.
- Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills with capacity to manage multiple (and often competing) deadlines.
- Strong computer skills (with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Deep interest in and enthusiasm for commercial titles with awareness of the current adult market in nonfiction and fiction is a plus.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and engagement is a plus.
- Knowledge of project management software is a plus.
