About the Role
The Ward Law Group is seeking an experienced Plaintiff Personal Injury Litigation Attorney to manage personal injury cases through all phases of litigation in our New York City office. This role is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment, enjoys managing cases independently, and is committed to maximizing client recoveries through strategic litigation and exceptional advocacy.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage a plaintiff personal injury litigation caseload.
- Develop litigation strategy from case assignment through resolution.
- Evaluate liability, damages, insurance coverage, and settlement opportunities.
- Prepare every case as though it will proceed to trial.
- Conduct investigations and liability analysis.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, legal memoranda, and court filings.
- Manage motion practice and case strategy.
- Coordinate with medical providers and expert witnesses.
- Review medical records and damages documentation.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
- Attend court conferences, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
- Prepare cases for trial and actively support trial attorneys when necessary.
- Negotiate settlements with insurance carriers and defense counsel.
- Maximize case value through strategic negotiation and litigation.
- Maintain regular communication with clients.
- Counsel clients regarding litigation strategy, risks, and settlement opportunities.
- Deliver exceptional client service throughout the life of every case.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing with the New York State Bar.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Plaintiff Personal Injury litigation experience.
- Experience handling New York personal injury litigation matters.
- Experience independently managing a litigation caseload.
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and legal memoranda.
- Experience taking and defending depositions.
- Experience attending mediations, hearings, and court conferences.
- Strong negotiation skills with insurance carriers and defense counsel.
- Excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work onsite Monday through Friday in New York City.
- First- or second-chair trial experience.
- Experience handling motor vehicle accident litigation.
- Experience handling catastrophic injury matters.
- Experience preparing cases for trial.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Experience using Litify or similar legal case management software.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all pre-employment requirements, including Form I-9 verification and supporting documentation as required by federal law.
