About the Role

As a BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme GmbH, we supply the capital with climate-friendly electricity and heat. Our district heating network is the largest in Western Europe. We are working towards exiting coal by 2030 and achieving climate-neutral generation from 2045, significantly supporting Berlin's climate goals. We are seeking individuals passionate about contributing to a local heat transition.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safe, reliable, and economical operation of network stations in the district heating network.
  • Organize and technically lead the operations team.
  • Plan, coordinate, and control all maintenance, inspection, and repair work on assigned systems in network station operations.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and initiate measures for rapid restoration of system operation, monitoring their implementation.
  • Analyze faults and damage events, conduct root cause analyses, and develop sustainable improvement measures.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements, technical regulations, and internal work and safety regulations.
  • Organize and supervise external companies, controlling the quality of their work.
  • Participate in investment, modernization, and optimization projects.
  • Maintain operational documentation and evaluate operational key figures.
  • Continuously optimize operational procedures, processes, and system safety.

Requirements

  • Completed master craftsman or technician qualification, preferably in building services engineering, plant mechanics, electrical engineering, energy technology, or a comparable technical field.
  • Relevant professional experience in the operation and maintenance of technical systems, ideally in district heating or energy supply.
  • Experience in organizing workflows and technically leading employees.
  • Good knowledge of maintenance and fault management.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in hydraulics and fluid mechanics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Responsible, confident decision-making, and structured approach.
  • High communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call duty.
  • Proficiency in standard office applications and ideally experience with maintenance and operational management systems, e.g., SAP.
  • Valid driver's license class B.
  • Fluent German language skills (written and spoken) at C1 level minimum.
