About the Role

Vogue Business is seeking a Beauty Editor to lead its beauty coverage, focusing on M&A, brand trends, market dynamics, and strategic industry shifts. The role involves overseeing the weekly Beauty Edit newsletter, representing the brand at events, and commissioning freelance contributors. The ideal candidate is a journalist with digital editorial or business reporting experience, capable of writing authoritatively on the beauty industry for a professional audience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the weekly Beauty Edit newsletter by planning content, compiling data, and writing the editor’s letter.
  • Write a minimum of two stories weekly on emerging beauty industry trends and breaking news.
  • Interview CEOs, CMOs, founders, and executives of beauty brands and conglomerates.
  • Write investigative, longer-format articles with diverse sources on industry topics.
  • Build and maintain industry sources.
  • Collaborate with editors and journalists with a proactive and positive approach.
  • Source images, video, and charts for website and social platforms.
  • Develop Vogue Business’s coverage and profile with new formats and series.
  • Host and build forums, podcasts, and events with key industry figures.
  • Collaborate with the Vogue Business team for dual byline stories.
  • Maintain and commission a pool of freelancers.
  • Contribute to other content pillars (fashion, sustainability, tech) as needed.

Requirements

  • Track record of reporting for a professional or business audience.
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines in a dynamic digital newsroom.
  • Knowledge of the beauty industry, including small brands, large luxury conglomerates, PRs, and creative/marketing agencies.
  • Passion for investigating new products, brands, and industry trends.
  • Ability to manage next-day news stories and investigative articles.
  • Maintain a growing network of contacts, including C-level executives and freelance writers.
  • Global perspective with insights and networks beyond the UK industry.
  • Experience with digital tools, including CMS and newsletter platforms.
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus.
