About the Role
Become a Project Manager in Markel’s Change Delivery team and play an integral part in the company's projects. The work done at Markel gives people the confidence to move forward and seize opportunities. This role supports strategic priorities by implementing business and technical solutions within agreed timescales and budget.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects that support International strategic objectives.
- Ensure business benefits are delivered in line with specified tolerances of time, cost, quality and risk.
- Manage, report, and present progress, business engagement of benefits from start-up to closure and benefits realization.
- Analyze project proposals to resolve approach, resource requirements, and limitations.
- Support business case development and tracking throughout delivery planning.
- Supervise the project, including stage and exception plans.
- Mobilize and motivate the project team to deliver and contribute effectively.
- Report project risks, including the development of contingency plans.
- Supervise and report overall progress, resourcing, and budget, initiating corrective action where vital.
- Maintain project governance, change control, and configuration management.
- Maintain an awareness of potential dependencies with other projects and their impact.
- Identify and acquire support and advice required for the management, planning, and control of the project.
- Conduct lessons learned to review implementation approach and management, preparing any follow-on action recommendations.
- Work with IT stakeholders to ensure products are delivered to technical standards.
- Partner with the team to ensure a smooth transition to business as usual position and ensure benefits are owned and measured.
Requirements
- Proven understanding of MS applications and project management tools for planning, tracking, and manipulation of project plans, data, and MI.
- Experience in project management and driving business outcomes.
- Strong capability in project financial management and presentation skills.
- Previous experience in change management / business improvement.
- Attention to detail in planning and execution.
Skills
- Prince 2 or equivalent Project Management certification (beneficial)
- Agile delivery methodology knowledge (desirable)
- Vendor contract negotiation and management (desirable)
