About the Role

This client-facing role leads complex transformation, people, and workforce advisory engagements for private and government organizations. The successful candidate will leverage business development experience, consulting capability, strategic thinking, and delivery leadership to help clients achieve sustained organizational outcomes. The role involves clarifying complexity, aligning stakeholders, designing practical solutions, leading project delivery, contributing to thought leadership, and driving practice growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow BDO’s Change and Transformation practice in Sydney through visible leadership, strategic business development and market engagement.
  • Build trusted executive relationships, identify and convert opportunities, shape compelling proposals and contribute to the practice’s growth strategy.
  • Lead the design and delivery of complex people advisory, transformation and change engagements for clients across private and government sectors.
  • Partner with clients to understand strategic priorities, diagnose organizational challenges and develop practical, evidence-informed solutions.
  • Translate enterprise strategy into actionable programs of work, operating models, workforce plans, change roadmaps.
  • Provide trusted advice to senior client stakeholders, bringing clarity to complex issues and supporting effective decision-making.
  • Ensure high-quality project outcomes through strong project governance, disciplined delivery, commercial awareness and exceptional client service.
  • Lead workforce optimisation, organisational effectiveness and transformation programs that improve productivity, performance and service delivery outcomes.
  • Design organisational structures, role reviews, competency frameworks, and ways of working that support strategic objectives and sustainable performance.
  • Develop workforce strategies and plans that align capability, capacity, structure and culture with future business needs.
  • Lead the people side of enterprise technology transformation, with deep expertise of change management across either: SAP, Oracle, Workday, Dayforce or other enterprise platforms.
  • Shape and deliver change strategies, stakeholder engagement, organisational readiness, communications, training and adoption approaches that enable successful system implementation and business transition.
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to manage change impacts, embed new ways of working and drive sustained user adoption and value realisation from technology investments.
  • Lead, coach and support project teams to deliver high-quality work, build capability and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
  • Manage individual and team workload, prioritise effectively and support team members to deliver against agreed timelines and outcomes.
  • Lead proposal development, client relationship management, market insights and business development activities.
  • Develop and contribute to methodologies, tools, thought leadership and service offerings that strengthen the practice.
  • Model BDO’s values through authentic, collaborative and courageous leadership, fostering trust, accountability, excellence and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in consulting and business development (10-15 years+).
  • Strong technical capability across one or more: change management, organisational design and workforce strategy across private and/or government organisations.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and diverse stakeholder groups to align priorities, manage complexity and deliver sustained outcomes.
  • Leading consulting teams to deliver quality products and outcomes for clients while building capability within the team.
  • Well-developed consulting skills, including problem solving, research, analysis, facilitation, presentation, project management and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and influence stakeholders at various levels.
  • Commercially astute, self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced, client-facing professional services environment.
