About the Role
This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact on platform performance, capability and long-term operational success within a highly collaborative and technically challenging environment. You will provide specialist naval architecture expertise across a broad range of technical disciplines, including structures, hull systems, hydrodynamics and stability, fostering technical capability while driving high-quality engineering outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide Naval Architecture Subject Matter Expertise, technical guidance, leadership and direction in support of the Engineering activities required of the CLCM.
- Deliver engineering activities to ensure compliance with approved policy, plans and processes.
- Conduct work to the requirements of the Engineering Management Plan.
- Develop tasking statements for design tasks to be executed in accordance with the planned schedule.
- Review engineering design task deliverables and conduct associated technical Design Reviews.
- Conduct technical risk assessments within the limits of engineering delegation.
- Work within and to the requirements of Navy Seaworthiness framework and the ACSSPO Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).
- Verify new Request for Problem Resolution (RPR) against the approved Requirements baseline, Certification Basis and Safety Case Report on the PBS.
- Manage Request for Variations (RFV) assigned prior to expiry date to Return to Standard (RTS), Make Permanent or cancellation.
- Independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
- Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, systems integration, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
Requirements
- Experience with Requirements Development, Design Review and Acceptance within a regulated technical framework, example Department of Defence.
- Must be eligible for ITAR clearance of relevant ship systems.
- Experience in a Department of Defence design delivery
- Experience in marine design or maintenance
- All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
- Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
- An AGSVA security clearance will be required.
- Compliance to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is required.
