About the Role

We are growing a new AI engineering team in Sydney that owns Enrich, our AI data-enrichment product, and builds new AI and agentic capability into the Nuix Neo platform. Our stack includes Java, Python, and React/TypeScript/MUI, shipping across SaaS and on-prem. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a strong individual contributor who takes features from design to done, enhances non-functional quality, and mentors junior engineers. You will collaborate with a cross-timezone team, product, architecture, and data science.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end delivery of significant features and epics, including design, build, and testing.
Enhance awareness of non-functional requirements (security, performance, DevOps) and ensure architecture principles are followed.
Provide code reviews on complex pull requests, addressing security concerns and ensuring secure-by-design practices.
Set and refine code best practices and maintain/improve QA gates.
Participate actively in architecture discussions, challenging approaches and contributing to the target state.
Drive collaboration within the team and communicate effectively across teams and geographies.
Mentor and support mid-level, associate, and graduate engineers.
Contribute to the design, evaluation, and shipping of AI agents and agentic capability in the platform.

Requirements

Typically 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a demonstrated track record of delivering complex work end-to-end.
Strong backend Java and experience with the Spring framework.
Experience with React/TypeScript.
Full-stack capability is valued.
Python exposure and comfort working with model-backed components and data scientists is a plus.
Experience with containerized, cloud, and on-prem delivery (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS) is desirable.
Interest or experience in AI/LLM-backed features, agents, or NLP/document-intelligence domains is highly desirable.
Recognized as a subject-matter expert in at least one technical area.
Clear communicator and a positive, mentoring presence in a distributed team.
