About the Role

We are building a new AI engineering team in Sydney focused on Nuix Neo. This role involves owning Enrich, our data-enrichment capability, and leading the team's AI mandate, including developing agentic capabilities to transform customer workflows. You will manage a distributed team across Australia, Ukraine, and the US, ensuring delivery of both existing products and new AI initiatives, while fostering team health and effective ways of working.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and grow a cross-timezone team, managing hiring, onboarding, career development, performance, and support.
Own delivery by partnering with product managers to plan, prioritize, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure predictable shipping of quality software across on-prem and SaaS.
Partner with the Product Manager to translate strategy into a viable, sequenced roadmap, providing engineering input on feasibility, effort, and trade-offs for AI and agentic initiatives.
Establish effective ways of working for a globally distributed team, ensuring healthy overlap between Sydney and remote members.
Be accountable for engineering quality and security outcomes, including continuous addressing of code and vulnerability scan reports and upholding secure-by-design practices.
Stay technically involved to review designs, contribute to technical direction, and support development without being on the critical delivery path.

Requirements

At least 10 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong hands-on foundation before moving into leadership.
Proven engineering management experience, including leading geographically distributed, cross-timezone teams.
Experience managing an AI / ML product development team is favorable.
Familiarity with shipping AI features, agents, or model-backed products.
Experience delivering products across both on-prem and SaaS/cloud (ideally Kubernetes-based) is desirable.
Technically credible across a modern stack (Java, Python, React/TypeScript) sufficient to guide design and quality conversations and provide useful code-review feedback.
Strong track record in delivery management, stakeholder communication, and building high-performing, healthy team cultures.
Familiarity with document-intelligence, NLP, or data-enrichment domains is a plus.
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
