About the Role
Principal Product Managers at Version 1 sit at the heart of transformations, operating at senior levels within client organizations to shape strategy and guide complex programs. They define vision, own the roadmap, frame problems, champion users, govern suppliers, navigate diplomacy, collaborate openly, facilitate effectively, shape incoming work, drive progress, and deliver with integrity.
Responsibilities
- Define and hold the vision, reinforcing it across teams, stakeholders, and suppliers.
- Own the organizational roadmap, planning, prioritizing, and communicating across teams.
- Frame problems before solutions by continuously discovering and asking the right questions.
- Champion the user by bringing user insight into all conversations and decisions.
- Govern suppliers and partners by influencing organizations and holding them to shared goals.
- Navigate with diplomacy, handling difficult conversations tactfully across various stakeholders.
- Collaborate openly across disciplines as true problem-solving partners.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings that lead to clear decisions and shared understanding.
- Shape and secure incoming work by spotting opportunities and crafting compelling propositions.
- Drive progress and ensure the team achieves its goals.
- Deliver with integrity and do the right thing, including having difficult conversations.
Requirements
- Eligibility for Security Check (SC) clearance.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
- Must have resided in the UK for at least 5 years.
- Operates at programme scale, having held vision across organizations and managed roadmaps spanning dozens of teams.
- Navigates senior stakeholder politics effectively.
- Earns credibility fast in complex environments.
- Builds and leads high-performing teams.
- Solves the right problems to drive outcomes.
- Brings clarity and alignment through storytelling.
- Leads with curiosity and empathy, asking the right questions.
- Creates environments where diverse perspectives are heard.
- Makes decisions and sets direction, balancing user needs, business priorities, and technical constraints.
- Focuses effort where it will have the greatest impact.
- Experience working with SFIA and DDaT frameworks is desirable but not essential.
