About the Role
The Electrical Engineer is a licensed P.E. and senior team member responsible for leading and managing project design initiatives. This role involves supervising a design team to produce high-quality schematics and layouts, managing all design team project functions, and playing a lead role in communication with stakeholders. The Engineer will also provide leadership support in construction administration and is capable of assuming the Job Captain function.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage project design initiatives.
- Supervise a team of Design professionals.
- Complete high-quality trade-specific schematics & layouts.
- Manage all design team project functions, including surveys, calculations, selections & layouts.
- Perform all project phases.
- Play a lead role in communicating with peers, supervisors, vendors, consultants, clients & stakeholders.
- Provide leadership support in the construction administration process.
- Process and review shop drawings.
- Perform field observations and prepare respective reports.
- Assume the Job Captain function.
- Recognize complex existing systems and apply solutions.
- Independently design complex electrical systems with minimal research and direction.
- Develop intricate electrical room and system designs/layouts and select advanced equipment with minimal supervision.
- Write sequence of operations with minimal supervision.
- Generate specifications based on company standard templates with minimal supervision.
- Produce existing conditions surveys and due diligence reports including cost estimates.
- Educate L3 engineers.
- Exhibit project process mastery.
- Keep the team focused on key team & company goals, and on the client experience.
- Ensure effective collaboration between team members.
- Perform Project Manager responsibilities without assistance.
- Foster a collaborative culture.
- Train and develop staff.
- Oversee team coordination with managers, clients and team members to set expectations, deliverables, and objectives.

- Coordinate between the project team and other MGE groups on the timely and accurate set-up/issuance of project documentation.
- Quarterback the project start-to-finish.
- Include the right stakeholders in communication.
- Coordinate with all departments and take ownership of the process throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Serve as an important quality control point by checking project documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting for issuance.
- Submit all completed checklists to the Project Manager.
- Provide final clearance on project issuance.
- Escalate concerns quickly and decisively.
- Ensure checklists, issue sheets and other pertinent documentation is accurately completed before sending.
- Ensure all pencils are down before submitting a set for issuance.
- Own the quality control process.
- Ensure the right engineers have checked their design before submitting it for issuance.
- Check drawings for accuracy before they go out.
- Ensure backgrounds and xrefs are up to date.
- Coordinate the issuance of Project Manuals (Book Specifications) if applicable.
- Coordinate and check the Issued Drawings List for every drawing issuance.
- Double check to see if the backgrounds received from the architects are correct.
- Ensure the proper drawings are compiled and issued.
- Communicate the status of the issuance through completion.
- Follow-up with the client to ensure the package was received.
- Ensure proper project documentation is thoroughly, correctly, and consistently followed.
- Ensure correct drawing set-up and filing.
- Ensure correct folder structure set-up and ongoing maintenance.
- Ensure correct and timely issue sheets.
- Ensure correct post-project filing and archiving.
- Ensure all changes are bubbled appropriately.
- Ensure delta in revisions matches the delta in the title block.
- Ensure all applicable DOB notes should be turned on for DOB filing.
- Ensure the PAA sub-number is correct.
- Ensure the initials of the team members are on the title blocks for all drawings.
- Include the correct DOB Now number.
- Be clear with the CAD/BIM group on project set-up expectations.
- Adhere to the company standard project folder structure.
- Check to see if drawings, folders, and issue sheets have been set-up correctly.
- Properly place project files into the correct folders within the drive.
- Notify Operations and Office Management that a project is confirmed for archiving.
- Listen and ask questions to fully understand the scope of the project.
- Clearly convey the focus and intent of the project to the team.
- Put instructions into a framework that team members can understand.
- Explain how the project fits in with the overall scheme of the company and its ultimate objective.
- Inspire trust in both stakeholders and team members through writing and speaking openly & honestly.
- Instill loyalty in the team through honest feedback and clear direction.
- Report the team’s progress to the client with assurances that keep the client satisfied.

Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.).
- Minimum 6 years of experience working as a Designer, with at least 2 years in a Senior Designer Role.
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading engineering projects of various sizes and complexities.
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading engineering teams of various sizes.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
- Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD & REVIT.
- Ability to manage strict timelines with multiple projects to meet deadlines under a high-pressure environment.
- Take Ownership of project deliverables and issuances.
- Coordinate between the project team and other MGE groups.
