About the Role
As a Senior Motor Fleet Underwriter within the Commercial General Insurance business, you will manage a diverse range of new and renewal business, from light fleets to complex heavy fleet, plant, and equipment risks. This role requires strong underwriting expertise, commercial judgment, and market insight to deliver outcomes for customers, brokers, and Zurich. You will build broker relationships, identify growth opportunities, shape underwriting decisions, and mentor developing underwriters to support Zurich's growth in the Motor Fleet market.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal Motor Fleet business in line with Zurich's underwriting framework and delegated authority.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers to support retention, acquisition, and long-term portfolio growth.
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities while supporting profitable renewal outcomes.
- Assess risks against appetite and underwriting guidelines, balancing technical analysis with commercial opportunities.
- Partner with customers, brokers, and internal stakeholders to deliver tailored insurance solutions and support broader business objectives.
- Support and mentor developing underwriters, sharing technical expertise and helping build underwriting capability across the team.
Requirements
- Experience underwriting Motor Fleet, Commercial Motor, Heavy Motor, Transport, Plant and Equipment, or related commercial insurance risks.
- Strong understanding of underwriting frameworks, risk assessment, and portfolio management.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships with brokers and external partners.
- Demonstrated commercial judgment with the ability to balance risk and growth opportunities.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting less experienced underwriters or colleagues.
