About the Role
As a Centre Cook at Young Academics, your expertise in the kitchen will assist in creating meaningful learning experiences and environments that reflect best practice and align with our service philosophy. Compliance and child safety are highest priorities, and you will be expected to uphold child-safe practices. You will collaborate with educators to build strong partnerships with children, families, and the community, fostering an environment that enhances children’s health, safety, wellbeing, confidence, and lifelong love of learning.
Responsibilities
- Implement and modify a seasonal menu created by our nutritionist.
- Maintain regular checks in compliance with the NSW Food Standards Code and Health Regulations.
- Assist staff and families in providing high-quality education and care.
- Collaborate with staff and families to facilitate learning opportunities relevant to the educational program.
- Maintain professional, supportive, and respectful relationships between management, staff, families, and children.
- Maintain Mandatory Reporting responsibilities and requirements.
Requirements
- Demonstrated Cook/Chef experience in the Aged Care or Early Childhood Education and Care sector.
- An ACECQA-approved qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Alternatively, a relevant Commercial Cooks qualification.
- Food Handlers Basics Certificate.
- Valid NSW Employee Working with Children Check.
- Knowledge of Food Standards Codes, EYLF and NQS.
- Commitment to upholding a Child Safe Organisation and inclusive practices.
- Maintain Mandatory National Child Safety Training.
- Provide a minimum of two professional referees.
- Young Academics conducts reference checks, verifies WWCC for paid work, and confirms no prohibition or statutory notices.
