About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and assist residents with daily needs, including personal care.
  • Assist with preparation for activity and social programs, and routine activities.
  • Provide basic nursing care under the direction of a licensed nurse supervisor.
  • Provide residents’ personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves.
  • Assist with travel to the bathroom, and help with showers and baths.
  • Assist with serving meals, feeding residents as necessary, ambulating, turning, and positioning residents.
  • Assist with lifting, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, and lifts.
  • Assist residents in preparation for and transporting to appointments, activities, and social programs.
  • Participate in meal service including serving, clearing, and cleaning the dining room.
  • Ensure residents are positioned appropriately for meals and have appropriate utensils within reach.
  • Serve food trays and assist with feeding as indicated.
  • Deliver and document all a.m., p.m., and bedtime snacks and supplements.
  • Provide hydration to all residents according to center policy.
  • Provide requested personal care services to residents.
  • Prepare equipment and aid nurses during treatments and examination of residents.
  • Check residents in section regularly and answer call lights promptly.
  • Follow through with resident problems or needs by delivering care or reporting to supervisor.
  • Maintain resident stability by checking vital signs and weight, testing urine, and recording intake and output information.
  • Provide resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials, transporting residents, answering resident call lights and requests, and reporting observations to the nursing supervisor.
  • Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Protect company’s integrity by keeping resident information confidential.
  • Serve and protect the center’s community by adhering to professional standards, company policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Review care plans routinely to determine if changes in the residents’ care routines have been made.
  • Participate in and receive nursing report upon reporting for duty and during shift change.
  • Make beds (occupied and unoccupied) and change bed linens.
  • Handle linens according to infection control guidelines.
  • Keep residents dry by changing gown, clothing, or linen when it becomes wet or soiled.
  • Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of resident units, central bathing area, treatment and supply rooms, workrooms, and linen closets.
  • Clean bedpans, urinals, and commodes; wash basins and emesis basins; sanitize bathtubs after each resident’s use.
  • Clean floors if a resident is incontinent and wipe spilled foods and liquids.
  • Provide post-mortem care as instructed.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

  • Must have valid certification in good standing.
