About the Role
The Ultrasound Sonographer operates sonographic equipment, performs diagnostic examinations, and communicates results. Responsibilities include managing daily lab operations, patient schedules, equipment maintenance, and quality assessment.
Responsibilities
- Assists physicians in performing high-quality ultrasound exams according to AIUM protocols.
- Obtains essential patient information from medical records and previous exams for clinical correlation.
- Performs ultrasound scans and provides direct patient care after confirming study and patient identification.
- Performs blood draws in accordance with established protocols.
- Effectively communicates differentials to interpreting physicians.
- Generates accurate computerized reports for physician review.
- Verifies proper ultrasound documentation in e-IVF upon completion of the exam.
- Ensures assigned rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for daily patient flow.
- Assists with all aspects of sterile ultrasound-guided procedures as directed by physicians.
- Prepares necessary supplies and paperwork to support physicians for sterile procedures.
- Observes and follows safety procedures, including universal precautions.
- Maintains HIPPA compliance and stays familiar with changes in technology and safety protocols.
- Operates equipment to acquire imaging results and reports deficiencies for rectification.
Requirements
- Must work two Saturdays a month.
- Must be willing and able to travel efficiently to the Manhattan location.
- Must be willing and able to travel efficiently to and from Brooklyn after the satellite location opens.
- Minimum one year of OB/GYN sonography experience.
- Fertility experience preferred.
