About the Role

Inspects a variety of ware at any stage for all types of visual, dimensional, glass quality, and decorating defects using limit samples, gauges, and written specifications. Operates and troubleshoots ware handling equipment, sets up equipment and performs minor maintenance, maintains non-conformity counts, tracks position output to maintain schedule compliance, and packs ware. Involved in lean manufacturing systems up to and including 5S and Problem-Solving practices.

Responsibilities

Inspects ware for dimensional conformance to specifications using various gauges.
Maintains accurate records of inspection results, including rejected items and reasons for rejection.
Interprets specifications, blueprints, sketches, and photographs.
Wipes, wraps, and packs ware using specified materials.
Operates switches and foot pedals on packing machines and stitchers.
Operates and troubleshoots ware handling equipment.
Sets up equipment and performs minor maintenance of material handling equipment.
Maintains non-conformity counts and tracks position output for schedule compliance.
Prepares packing materials within established directions and specifications.
Participates in lean manufacturing systems, including 5S and Problem-Solving practices.
Operates and makes adjustments to various equipment including lift tables, destackers, barcode label printers, stream feeder paper pack equipment, label dispensers, EOB stackers, P.E. Coater, and Vac-Q-Veyor.
Checks photo-eye operation and cleans ware jam-ups.
Logs equipment downtime and problems.
Maintains S.O.S data on equipment and processes.
Performs first-level troubleshooting of equipment and processes.
Notifies appropriate personnel of major mechanical troubles and operating issues.
Packs ware to specification, builds boxes and covers, and positions pallets.
Checks ware tickets and records appropriate ware counts.
Operates hand trucks and power-operated Walkie-Stackers.
Handles battery changing equipment and chargers.
Operates tape machine, labels boxes, and straps and bands pallets of ware.
Operates lift truck.
Cleans ware handling equipment and maintains a clean, orderly work area.
May be required to attend relevant RCRA training for hazardous waste generation.

Requirements

Handles up to 50 lbs over 50% of shift or equivalent, such as heavy boxes and pallets, and 75 lbs under 5% of shift.
Requires ordinary visual effort over 50% of shift for observing equipment operation, inspecting ware, steering hand trucks, packing ware, and preparing cartons.
Meets tolerances such as adjusting equipment to compensate for ware variation.
Sets up and adjusts coating equipment, stacking equipment by adjusting valves, and operates control panels.
Operates taping, banding, and hand trucks.
Knowledge of conveyors, packaging equipment, stacking equipment, Vac-Q-Veyors, and specifications for quality control and packing.
Ability to make adjustments to remedy production difficulties for various ware shapes, sizes, and changing environments.
Solves problems such as correcting ware rejection for improper over spray, stack counts, and ware jam-ups on conveyors and stackers.
Performs first-level troubleshooting of equipment.
Applies ordinary care to prevent loss from damage to stacking equipment due to operator failure to make correct equipment adjustments.
Must be on time and not miss time for the entire probationary period.
Overtime will be required and employees are expected to work mandatory overtime when scheduled.
