About the Role
OLYX is seeking a product engineer with a passion for solving real problems and driving business impact. You will use AI tools extensively in your workflow and build scalable, robust solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work end-to-end on features, from scoping to deployment and iteration, in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Translate fuzzy problems into effective solutions.
- Design, build, and ship features end-to-end across frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
- Own the work from scoping with product and design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Validate inputs, protect sensitive customer data, and think about authorization at every layer.
- Catch subtle bugs that quietly corrupt data before they reach production.
- Improve workflow and tooling as a first-class part of the job.
- Participate in code review, product and technical discussions.
- Participate in the on-call rotation shared across the team.
- Investigate incidents, fix the root cause, and write up learnings.
- Support teammates by pairing on problems, leaving thoughtful PR comments, and sharing knowledge.
Requirements
- 3+ years building production web or mobile applications, with meaningful experience on both frontend and backend.
- A product engineer mindset, driven by impact and solving real problems.
- Comfortable talking directly with stakeholders and end users to understand needs.
- Ability to translate conversations into concrete, well-scoped solutions.
- Ability to think about the 'why' behind the work and push back when necessary.
- Actively use AI tools across the workflow (brainstorming, research, prototyping, code generation/review, testing, documentation).
- Treat AI fluency as a core engineering skill.
- Track record of delivering solutions that hold up as usage, data, and the team grow.
- Think beyond the immediate feature to the system, data flow, bottlenecks, and extensibility.
- Take ownership from problem to production and communicate progress.
- Spot what needs doing and drive it to completion, surfacing trade-offs and risks early.
- Keep everyone on the same page.
- Genuinely curious about the renewable energy market and brokerage.
- Desire to understand user needs and friction points.
- Stay close to new tools, techniques, and AI capabilities.
- Energized by complex problems and treat roadblocks as challenges to be solved.
- Flag roadblocks early with a proposed path forward.
