About the Role
As a Business Development Executive (BDE), you will be responsible for achieving daily, weekly, and monthly targets, ensuring consistent progress towards your year-to-date budget goals. You will source new business leads, manage relationships with new clients, and ensure business retention.
Responsibilities
- Meet results and activity targets as outlined in 'Appendix A'.
- Adhere to the 'Daily Sales Structure', generally spending three days in the office and two days on the road.
- Attend the minimum number of appointments as outlined in Appendix A, including New Business and Account Management Appointments.
- Obtain the minimum number of business cards as outlined in Appendix A, following the approved lead generation methodology.
- Sell within your defined territory unless referred to a client in another territory.
- Follow the Capital Group’s Sales Process, including Warm up, Recap, Presentation, and Close methods.
- Provide a de-brief of all on-road activities to your Manager at the end of each road day via CRM.
- Generate a minimum of 100 leads (company name and phone number) through various techniques.
- Make the minimum number of calls outlined in Appendix A, primarily from your landline, to schedule appointments.
- Submit all original credit applications on the day a new client trades.
- Escalate clients with daily trade or per period revenue above $1000.00 to the Sales Manager/Supervisor.
- Follow up on client feedback within 1 week of receipt and report all escalations to your Manager.
- Assist Administration and Finance Departments with client queries.
- Log into the phone system and be available to accept overflow calls from the Customer Service Department.
- Attend all weekly sales team meetings.
- Ensure proper use of the CRM system by inserting legitimate, detailed, and relevant information.
- Maintain a CRM pipeline with the minimum number and value of Qualified Opportunities.
- Track all appointments, follow-up phone calls, emails, and tasks in CRM.
- Document all communication and administrative work associated with managing clients.
- Escalate all client proposed modifications to credit application terms and conditions, and client contracts, to Legal Counsel.
- Inform yourself of goods and tasks involved in providing transport services.
- Identify and control known risks associated with transport services.
- Liaise with the National HSEQ Manager to ensure safe work practices.
- Conduct client site inspections as required, using the prescribed inspection template.
- Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with your Manager.
- Perform courier deliveries and assist customer service during peak business periods (November-January) if required.
- Ensure all clients’ expectations are met in terms of time and quality.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients.
- Advocate co-operation with both intra and inter Departments.
- Ensure written and verbal communication is professional and courteous.
- Attend one-on-one meetings with your Manager as required.
- Perform any reasonable tasks requested by your Manager.
- Notify your Manager if additional training is required.
- Use work time and resources for work activities.
- Ensure compliance with Capital Group’s Company Policies.
- Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety (WH&S) responsibilities.
- Cooperate with the Capital Group regarding WH&S and National Heavy Vehicle legislation.
- Undertake all relevant training for responsibilities.
- Perform roles effectively to manage Chain of Responsibility (COR) risks.
- Report any potential or actual breaches of CG policies and procedures immediately to their Manager.
- Take reasonable care for own health and safety and that of others.
- Do not wilfully or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interest of environment health and safety or welfare.

- All decisions outside of written parameters must be approved by your direct manager.
- Must use work time and resources for work activities.
- Must not divert work mobile to personal mobile phone.
- Must comply with Capital Group’s Company Policies at all times.
- Must comply with the Work Health and Safety (WH&S) responsibilities.
- Employees must cooperate with the Capital Group in relation to activities undertaken to comply with WH&S and National Heavy Vehicle legislation.
- Employees must undertake all relevant training to carry out responsibilities.
- Employees must perform roles effectively to manage Chain of Responsibility (COR) risks.
- Employees must report any potential or actual breaches of CG policies and procedures immediately to their Manager.
