About the Role

Cohen & Steers seeks a Tokyo-based representative to retain and grow existing and future retail sub advisory relationships. This role will also provide guidance to team members in managing operational requirements for client accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Grow relationships organically by raising assets in existing sub advised funds or selling new strategies to Japanese fund sponsors/asset managers.
  • Provide leadership in distribution activities, including seminars and study sessions.
  • Assist in the production, translation, and updating of presentations for subadvisory clients.
  • Respond to regular requests and questionnaires from clients and their advisors.
  • Respond to ad-hoc questions and requests from clients and their advisors.
  • Prepare periodic investment performance and market outlook reports for clients.
  • Assist with meeting preparation, reporting, and conference calls with clients.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English and possess excellent communication skills in Japanese with fluency.
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college.
  • More than 5 years of experience in asset management or related financial services.
  • Self-motivated and a team player.
  • Demonstrates inclusive behaviors in support of a culture that values diverse perspectives.
  • Agrees to comply with the firm’s hybrid work policy, requiring reporting to the Tokyo office four days per week with one remote workday permitted.

Skills

  • Skilled use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in both English and Japanese.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team-oriented environment from a satellite location.
  • Knowledge of the mutual fund industry in Japan.
  • Knowledge of broker/dealer, mega, and regional banking distribution channels in Japan.
  • Knowledge of real estate and REITs (beneficial).
  • Knowledge of broad market equities (beneficial).
  • Knowledge of listed infrastructure (beneficial).
  • Knowledge of preferred stocks (beneficial).
