About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer - Development is responsible for the industrialization of new projects from initial RFQ to production validation. This role serves as the primary technical liaison between Moldtech, customers, suppliers, and tooling manufacturers, ensuring clear communication and that new projects meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee initial customer communication, including RFQ review, design reviews, and quote generation.
- Collaborate with customers to define project requirements and communicate them to the Moldtech team.
- Develop project timelines and ensure milestone achievement.
- Lead new tooling and process development with internal resources, manufacturers, and customers.
- Support APQP deliverables such as PFMEAs, control plans, and PPAP submissions.
- Define and document work instructions, process parameters, and quality requirements for production hand-off.
- Conduct trials for new materials, compounds, and tooling, validating results before production release.
- Assist with other Engineering team initiatives as directed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years’ experience in mold design, preferably in rubber molding (compression, transfer, injection).
- Knowledge of rubber curing, flow, and shrinkage characteristics.
- Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and ISO/IATF quality requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight timelines.
