About the Role
As our Patient Administration Officer, you'll play a key role behind the scenes, ensuring the smooth coordination of patient administration and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care. Working 4 days per week (Monday–Friday), you'll work closely with patients, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to keep the clinic running efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding patient service by welcoming patients, responding to enquiries, coordinating appointments and supporting patients and families with empathy, professionalism and respect.
- Coordinate patient administration by maintaining accurate electronic medical records, managing documentation and supporting clinical staff with patient information and clinic workflows.
- Work collaboratively across the hospital by liaising with medical, nursing, allied health and administrative teams to ensure seamless patient care and efficient clinic operations.
- Keep the clinic running efficiently by coordinating interpreters, managing mail, ordering supplies, processing data entry and providing a wide range of administrative support to the healthcare team.
- Take ownership and solve problems by managing competing priorities, resolving administrative enquiries, escalating issues appropriately and contributing to a high-performing, patient-centred service.
Requirements
- Excellent computer and data entry skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office and patient administration systems while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Outstanding organisation and time management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities and keep things running smoothly.
- A positive, can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn, take initiative and support a collaborative team.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with the confidence to engage professionally and compassionately with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Certificate III in Health Administration (or equivalent healthcare administration experience), combined with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient care.
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or have an Australia visa that grants the work rights necessary for the role.
