About the Role
This role offers a unique opportunity to join a talented team focused on solving critical challenges in molecular data storage. As a Principal Scientist, you will be the primary subject matter expert and scientific leader driving the design, development, and optimization of electrochemical devices, integrating complex electrochemical systems with semiconductor platforms and guiding sensor architecture strategy. The ideal candidate is an experienced, rigorous, and detail-oriented experimentalist with a proven track record in commercializing electrochemical biosensors and a passion for innovation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an Electrochemist individual contributor and subject matter leader for the design, development, and optimization of next-generation electrochemical CMOS devices.
- Develop an optimized solution for acid generation from an array of CMOS based electrodes.
- Develop and execute complex workflows that integrate advanced electrochemical detection methods with high-density semiconductor platforms.
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive electrochemical characterization protocols to evaluate sensor performance, sensitivity, and reliability.
- Process and analyze complex experimental data to troubleshoot technical issues, guide sensor optimization, and drive project direction.
- Maintain detailed and meticulous records of all experimental work and analysis.
- Effectively communicate experimental results, data analysis, and strategic next steps to team members and executive leadership.
- Contribute as a scientific leader while thriving in cross-functional collaborations between synthesis, engineering, sequencing, and bioinformatics teams.
- Lead complex projects associated with CMOS platforms as needed.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior scientists and research associates.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (PhD) in Electrochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Physics or a closely related field.

5 years of relevant academic / industry experience specifically focused on the research, development, and commercialization of electrochemical biosensors.
- Deep, hands-on expertise in advanced electrochemical techniques (e.g., cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, ac voltammetry, chronoamperometry) and sensor characterization on solid substrates.
- Strong understanding of electron transfer kinetics at microelectrodes.
- Proven track record of developing ultra-sensitive electrochemical bioassays and integrating them with microelectronic or semiconductor devices.
- Experience in optimizing electrode interfaces and solution formations to increase current densities at an electrode.
- Experience in performing electrochemistry on high density electrode arrays is desirable.
- Strong data analysis and scripting experience is highly desirable.
- Experience in a biotech or pharma R&D environment is highly desirable.
- Must be a creative and detail-oriented person with excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Exceptional collaboration skills and ability to work seamlessly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
