About the Role
The Manager, Technology Applications, is responsible for the operational management, governance, and continuous improvement of LOFT’s core enterprise applications. This role ensures that business critical systems are reliable, well-supported, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational priorities. The position focuses on steady state ownership and execution of the application portfolio, supporting the Director, Technology & Digital Enablement in the implementation of approved application strategies and roadmaps. The role partners closely with program and departmental subject-matter experts to ensure applications meet business needs, changes are delivered effectively, and risks are identified and managed. This role plays a key role in translating strategy into execution, strengthening day-to-day governance, and ensuring applications are sustainably managed over time.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operational management and governance of the organization’s enterprise application portfolio, ensuring applications are effectively supported, documented, and aligned with business objectives.
- Oversee the full application lifecycle, including maintenance, enhancements, optimization, and retirement, while ensuring compliance with established governance and approval processes.
- Maintain accurate application inventories, ownership records, dependencies, risks, and support models to support operational excellence and decision-making.
- Ensure the stability, availability, and performance of enterprise applications to meet organizational needs.
- Act as the primary escalation point for critical application incidents, coordinating with internal teams, business stakeholders, and vendors to drive timely resolution and continuous improvement.
- Manage day-to-day vendor relationships for applications, service reviews, software licensing, and contract renewals.
- Monitor application-related costs, usage trends, and vendor performance, identifying opportunities for cost optimization, efficiency, and value realization.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development support to the Applications Team, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and consistent service delivery.
- Build strong partnerships with business leaders and stakeholders, communicating application performance, risks, priorities, and capacity considerations in a clear, business-focused manner.
- Drive initiatives to improve application usability, adoption, supportability, and standardization across the organization.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop training strategies and leverage operational insights to inform future technology planning and investment decisions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in application management, enterprise systems, or IT operations, with a strong focus on supporting business-critical applications and service delivery.
- Proven experience managing enterprise applications and collaborating with vendors and third-party providers to implement, upgrade, and maintain technology solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands, exercise sound judgment, and deliver results in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments.
- Recognized for operational leadership, execution excellence, and a continuous improvement mindset focused on enhancing processes and user experience.
- Experience working in nonprofit, public sector, healthcare, or other regulated environments.
- Exposure to enterprise platforms such as CRM, case management, ERP, HRIS, or fundraising systems.
- Experience operating within evolving governance structures and environments undergoing process standardization and transformation.
- Regular travel to LOFT sites is expected to build relationships and understand system use.
- May be required to be on call as emergency contact after business hours.
- A satisfactory vulnerable sector check (VSC) is also required.
