About the Role
A pre-seed energy tech startup in Berlin is developing the operating system for future energy solutions, including a modular billing engine, energy-market communication protocols, and an accounting ledger. As a Backend Engineer on the core infrastructure team, you will contribute to designing and scaling systems for dynamic electricity plans and reliable billing for European energy companies.
Responsibilities
- Design and scale core infrastructure services to meet growing demand and evolving energy-market requirements.
- Tackle deep technical complexity through thoughtful system design and architecture decisions.
- Ship with urgency, demonstrating a bias toward action, iteration, and ownership.
- Raise the engineering bar through code quality, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Proficiency in backend development using TypeScript (Node.js) with a strong grasp of asynchronous programming.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and an ORM (Drizzle preferred).
- Experience with Next.js, including API routes or server components.
- Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and the ability to design scalable, maintainable core services.
- C1+ English language proficiency (written and verbal).
