About the Role
Chime is seeking a seasoned engineering leader to manage and guide the Data team, driving the development of a scalable, self-serve data foundation. This role will lead efforts to democratize data with stronger governance, enabling FinTech innovation through AI-driven, data-centric initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Drive the next generation of FinTech innovation by leading AI-driven, data-centric initiatives that accelerate business growth, improve decision-making, and advance Chime's data platform.
- Partner closely with Analytics, Product, Data Science, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality, trusted, and secure data products while serving as a strategic thought partner to the business.
- Lead, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement by establishing a clear sense of urgency and direction, setting high expectations for both the team and individual contributors, and driving operational excellence.
- Collaborate across teams to prioritize work, resolve issues, and remove delivery obstacles, ensuring the team remains focused on delivering the highest business impact while maintaining engineering quality and velocity.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience leading Data Engineering teams.
- Proven experience building scalable, AI-ready data platforms, semantic models, and trusted data products.
- Strong partnership with Product, Analytics, Data Science, and Marketing to deliver business outcomes.
- Experience driving engineering excellence, including data quality, governance, CI/CD, and operational reliability.
- Experience with Growth and Marketing data platforms, including attribution, funnels, and experimentation.
- Experience supporting teams to deliver solutions on tech stacks such as Spark, Snowflake, Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Key-Value store, dbt.
