Responsibilities
- Cleans and services restrooms
- Sweeps and mops floors and stairways
- Gathers and disposes of rubbish and waste materials
- Makes rounds of buildings and grounds to inspect doors, windows, and locks
- Observes premises and equipment, reporting needed repairs and safety hazards
- Dusts blinds, furniture, file cabinets, and windowsills
- Polishes furniture, metal work, and chrome
- Maintains an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies
- Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirrors, and fixtures
- Cleans grounds and parking lots of litter, glass, or other debris
- Loads and unloads supplies, and moves heavy furniture and equipment
- Replaces light bulbs and fuses
- Performs ground maintenance including mowing grass and trimming shrubs
- Performs related work as assigned
Requirements
- Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the janitorial service
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules
- Knowledge of the proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies
- Physically demanding position requiring standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, operating cleaning equipment, stretching, and bending
- Works with dangerous and toxic cleaning products
- Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment drug and alcohol screen
- Contingent upon receiving a favorable background check
- Must pass a physical examination
Skills
- Handle basic maintenance, repairs and cleaning
- Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted
- Able to work without direct supervision
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods during shift
