About the Role
The primary function is to support supply distribution and facility operations at a major medical facility. This role involves ordering and maintaining adequate levels of all supplies, equipment, and linen, while collaborating with leadership to achieve optimum patient care in a cost-efficient manner.
Responsibilities
- Support supply distribution and facility operations.
- Order and maintain adequate levels of all supplies, equipment, and linen.
- Collaborate with administrative and clinical leadership on equipment and supplies selection.
- Coordinate with vendors and ancillary services to ensure all areas are maintained in a safe, attractive, and appropriate condition.
- Take inventory and order supplies to maintain established inventory levels.
- Count supplies and order items via the inventory management system.
- Order additional supplies as requested by the leadership team and/or clinical staff.
- Anticipate and avoid problems by ordering out-of-stock and depleted items promptly.
- Offer alternatives to out-of-stock items.
- Check if another area has extra out-of-stock items.
- Identify overstocked items and return them for credit.
- Notify the manager daily of any overstocked items.
- Check daily on items “on order” using the backorder report.
- Notify the manager of critical items needed.
- Identify fast-moving items and monitor them closely.
- Suggest changes in par levels to accommodate floor staff needs.
- Participate in the review of par levels with leadership.
- Use appropriate forms or systems to request and credit items.
- Process Return Authorization online forms.
- Select the correct quantity, account number/expense code, cost center, date, and location on all orders.
- Identify cost containment opportunities and make recommendations.
- Deliver and store supplies in the appropriate location and at an appropriate level/quantity.
- Follow established priority in the delivery and storage of items.
- Rotate items before storing.
- Distribute items and patient charge items daily.
- Deliver and stock medications.
- Store securely all distributed FDA-approved products as per guidelines.
- Stock supplies in various rooms and areas daily.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Some experience preferred but will take someone eager and willing to learn.
