About the Role
The Systems Engineer will contribute to the design, support, and maintenance of production, broadcast, and venue presentation technologies for live sports and entertainment production.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and support of MLSE’s venue technology infrastructure at all venues.
- Assist in procurement, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of venue and broadcast equipment and operating systems, with confidence to lead these activities when required.
- Ensure control room equipment and display systems at all MLSE venues are meeting and exceeding stakeholder expectations.
- Assist the Engineer-In-Charge with maintaining and ensuring compliance of all league-related technologies.
- Work with all stakeholders to establish technical strategies and ensure the integrity of technical investments meet and exceed presentation requirements.
- Actively monitor, support, and maintain the operational health of systems during scheduled live events at all MLSE venues.
- Maintain a progressive, innovative outlook on the use of technology.
- Liaise with EIC, Engineering Technicians, Technical Producers, Coordinators, and clients to contribute to the design and support of permanent and temporary installations.
- Adapt to changing duties and responsibilities as circumstances dictate in a live event environment.
Requirements
- Formal education in a related field or equivalent work experience of at least 5 years.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience providing live-event operational support.
- Demonstrated growth to senior level responsibilities in live broadcast, event presentation, and/or A/V engineering support.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current digital video, audio, and data production tools and IP-based broadcast and presentation environments (e.g. SMPTE-2110, IPMX, SDI, MADI, AES67, DANTE).
- Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast system design principles, signal path methodologies, and the ability to read system drawings.
- Ability and confidence to lead a project from concept through installation and support.
- Ability to obtain “Working at Heights” certification.
- Familiarity with LED video displays and associated technologies is preferred.
- Scissor Lift operation certification is a plus.
- AVIXIA, CompTIA A+, Network+ or similar certification is a plus.
- Experience working with AutoCAD, Draw.io, SketchUp or other system design tools is a plus.
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
