About the Role
This role is for an experienced procurement professional to identify, plan, and deliver benefits for IT/Digital or Academic, Science and Health related contracts. The role supports the overarching Procurement plan and aims of the University, leading high-value procurements, managing contracts, and mitigating third-party risk. It also involves coaching a Procurement Co-Ordinator and supporting the Head of Procurement in improving university-wide procurement processes.
Responsibilities
- Identify, plan, and deliver benefits for IT/Digital or Academic, Science and Health related contracts.
- Create and deliver appropriate strategies for a range of sub-categories.
- Lead high value and risk procurements in line with policy and legislation.
- Support the lifecycle of contracts to drive value and mitigate third-party risk.
- Provide coaching to a Procurement Co-Ordinator, supporting their role and development.
- Support the Head of Procurement with developing systems, processes, and guidance/training to improve procurement performance.
- Build and manage relationships with diverse groups of people, including internal stakeholders, suppliers, and senior management.
- Constructively challenge existing practices and processes.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience leading significant procurement projects.
- Experience of managing procurements under public procurement regulations (desirable).
- Experience within the Procurement Act 2023 (desirable).
- Experience managing spend within areas related to the category role (IT/Digital or Academic/Science/Health related).
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Demonstrate experience and leadership style that will positively influence direct reports.
