About the Role

This position is responsible for administrative and clinical duties delegated by the physician, assisting with patient care in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code. Duties vary based on practice size and specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates efficient and effective patient flow, including preparing patients for visits and providing services as determined by providers.
  • Performs necessary administrative duties to ensure all information is current and updated, including EMR maintenance.
  • Maintains and cleans the work environment and equipment, reporting any malfunctions.
  • Communicates with patients and customers respectfully and caringly.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Collects and monitors patient data, reporting as directed.
  • Maintains documentation guidelines for patient chargeable items/services.
  • Ensures continuous monitoring of processes and services for quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Engages in process and quality improvement activities, making recommendations for operational efficiency and new services.
  • Continuously studies the professional field, including best practices, to maintain competence.
  • Completes required continuous training and education.
  • Promotes and advocates for patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives, acting as a role model.
  • Serves as an SME/resource in areas such as quality, performance improvement, and EMR.
  • Oversees efficient and effective patient flow, including preparation for visits/admissions and providing services/education.
  • Leads and supports the development of standard work and necessary customizations.
  • Functions as a clinical preceptor and is responsible for training new staff.
  • Complies with scope of practice.
  • Focuses on safety, quality, and efficiency in performing job duties as a High Reliability Organization.

Requirements

  • Completion of a High School Medical Assistant Career Technical Program, or
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Medical Assisting, or
  • Completion of Military Medic training, or
  • Certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P), or
  • At least one year of experience as a physician-trained Medical Assistant in a similar clinical setting.
  • Successful completion of Care Connect EMR documentation skills.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
