About the Role

As VP of FTR, you will lead the development and growth of our Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) platform. You will be responsible for building and managing a high-performing team, driving both technical and commercial strategy, and ensuring the success of our FTR desk.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and build the FTR business, including recruiting, mentoring, and developing a team of technical and commercial professionals.
  • Serve as a player-coach, actively participating in both strategic decision-making and hands-on execution.
  • Develop and implement strategies to target key FTR markets, identifying opportunities for growth and expansion.
  • Oversee the development of the FTR platform, collaborating with technology, analytics, and trading teams to ensure robust, scalable solutions.
  • Manage risk across the FTR business, establishing frameworks and controls to monitor and mitigate exposure.
  • Utilize capital effectively to build and scale the FTR desk, ensuring optimal allocation and return on investment.
  • Represent LS Power in industry forums, regulatory discussions, and with key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate deep expertise in FTR markets (PJM, ERCOT, NYISO, MISO), trading, and risk management.
  • Are both technically and commercially savvy, able to bridge the gap between analytics and business strategy.
  • Have a proven track record of building and leading successful teams in energy trading or related fields.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and are motivated by solving complex energy challenges.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, integrity, teamwork, and ownership within the FTR team.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of experience in energy trading, with significant exposure to FTR markets.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including building and managing teams.
  • Strong technical skills in analytics, modeling, and platform development.
  • Deep understanding of risk management principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A passion for innovation and driving business growth.
