About the Role

Responsibilities

• Build a world-class customer experience across the stack, shipping across backend, web, and infrastructure, and into mobile when features cross over.
• Integrate AI into the build process, using AI in daily work, and sharing patterns to help the team move faster.
• Lead the integration of AI into the product, setting direction on where AI creates customer value, prototyping bets, and bringing the team along.
• Own delivery end-to-end, from problem identification and solution design to shipping and production support.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and support shipped production work.
• Maintain production speed and trust by monitoring latency, hardening release processes, and protecting customer-reliant systems.
• Set the technical direction by owning architecture, patterns, and standards for the product.
• Mentor and uplift team members.

Requirements

• Right to work in the UK and based in London.
• Deep engineering experience with 10+ years building production software.
• Full-stack range, comfortable across backend, web, and infrastructure.
• Strong fundamentals in TypeScript, GraphQL, and SQL.
• Experience with NestJS (or a similar Node.js framework) and React.
• Cloud and DevOps mindset, comfortable with GCP (or similar cloud), CI/CD, observability, and modern infrastructure tooling.
• Daily use of AI assistants in the building process, with a willingness to share effective patterns.
• Product-oriented thinking, measuring work by customer impact.
• Production mindset with a solid grasp of API design, observability, scaling, reliability, and security.
• Attention to craft, including clean APIs, detail, and developer experience.
• Comfortable operating in uncertainty and moving forward without a fully defined path.
• Proficiency in building with automated tests.
• Passionate about execution, with curiosity, energy, and a habit of driving progress.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a passion for sharing knowledge.
• Acts as a force multiplier, impacting other engineers through patterns, reviews, and growth.
• Does not require a fully defined process or large team to perform optimally.
• Does not prioritize technical perfection over customer needs.
• Does not stall when the path forward is unclear or wait for direction.
• Willing to work across unfamiliar parts of the stack.
