About the Role
The Floor Manager of EVS-Stewarding is responsible for the daily operations of the Stewarding Department, including assigning work, directing employees, scheduling, and training to ensure maximum efficiency. This role involves managing team members, directing daily operations, and exercising independent judgment in staffing, scheduling, performance management, and policy enforcement. The Manager acts as a management representative, spending most time on supervisory and decision-making responsibilities, and significantly influences hiring and disciplinary actions.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the employee selection process, interviewing and recommending candidates for hire.
- Set performance standards for employee tasks, jobs, and roles, aligning individual expectations with organizational goals.
- Discipline employees and issue corrective actions.
- Direct, train, and develop Kitchen Utility staff, managing workload distribution to maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, china, silver, glassware, pots, and pans, and ensuring replenishment of supplies.
- Properly train Kitchen Utility staff on the use of chemicals and sanitary handling of food and beverage equipment and utensils.
- Oversee banquet set-up and breakdown, assigning duties as provided by management.
- Comply with all department and company rules, regulations, policies, procedures, internal controls, and government rules.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations, including MSDS logbooks.
- Evaluate and adjust shift schedules as necessary to meet operational and departmental needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all food and beverage areas/surfaces.
- Ensure proper operation of dish machines/cleaning equipment and maintain pars/order chemicals and supplies for smooth operation.
- Nurture an ownership environment emphasizing staff motivation and teamwork.
- Promote positive public and employee relations.
- Present a neat and clean appearance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to applicable statutes, rules, and regulations.
- Associate degree in a related field AND two (2) years' experience in a high-volume Stewarding Supervisory position or equivalent.
- OR Two (2) years' management experience in the hiring position’s department.
- Five (5) years' related work experience in a high-volume stewarding setting required.
- Three (3) years' related experience in a casino high-volume stewarding setting preferred.
- Must possess NYC DOH training certificates.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively address all levels within the organization.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of state gaming regulations pertaining to casino operations.
- Ability to perform each job responsibility satisfactorily.
- Ability to perform duties successfully, with reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, and to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, stretch, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Moderate physical ability required, such as lifting or maneuvering at least seventy-five (75) pounds.
- Prolonged sitting during the shift.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries from other Team Members or guests.
- Fluency in English required.
- Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to compute complex mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
