About the Role

Focus Financial partner firm, Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman, is seeking a Tax Assistant Manager. This role requires an organized, technically capable, and client-focused tax professional comfortable with compliance and advisory matters, possessing strong review skills, sound judgment, and the ability to support junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of tax clients across personal tax and corporation tax compliance matters.
  • Review tax returns, computations, and supporting work prepared by junior team members.
  • Provide support on tax advisory and planning assignments, including research, analysis, and report preparation.
  • Act as a day-to-day client contact, building relationships and responding to queries professionally.
  • Assist with identifying tax planning opportunities and supporting senior team members in delivering advisory solutions.
  • Support the Tax Director and Tax Manager in workflow management, prioritization, and work allocation.
  • Coach, support, and develop junior colleagues through regular feedback and on-the-job guidance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK tax legislation and communicate relevant changes.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with internal quality standards, professional requirements, and agreed deadlines.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a tax role with exposure to tax compliance, advisory, and planning work.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with a strong commitment to client service.
  • Strong technical knowledge of personal tax and corporation tax.
  • Experience of reviewing work prepared by junior colleagues and providing clear, constructive feedback.
  • Proven ability to draft clear and accurate tax planning and advisory reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and consultative skills.
  • Comfort communicating across all levels of the organization.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
  • Familiarity with CCH and QuickBooks is highly preferred.

Salary/Compensations

  • Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
