About the Role

This position is responsible for assisting clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, implementing and evaluating direct patient care, and utilizing specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide an excellent patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for exams and treatments by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and measurements, and documenting chief complaints and pain scores.
• Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including taking vital signs, performing phlebotomies, ear irrigations, and EKGs.
• Coordinates and manages patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling.
• Provides clerical support for patient notifications and documentation, including complete medical records, labs, authorizations, X-rays, and hospital records.
• Maintains a clean and functional environment, including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas.
• Orders supplies as directed and stocks patient care areas.
• Develops and maintains effective communication with all external and internal customers.
• Completes all necessary on-boarding and orientation activities, including simulation training.
• Works under the direct supervision of providers and interacts with various levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
• Active Medical Assistant Certification is required.
• Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for Meaningful use.
• BLS certification required.
• Requires strong computer skills, including the ability to work with medical software.
• Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion.
• Employees working in specific Behavioral Health clinical settings must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
• An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
