About the Role

Cypress Creek Energy is seeking an Environmental Affairs team member to support the development of transmission-and distribution-scale solar, hybrid, and standalone energy storage projects. This role will advise on environmental diligence, strategic permitting, risk mitigation, and compliance support throughout the project development lifecycle, engaging internal teams and external agencies to reduce environmental permitting risk.

Responsibilities

Develop and lead environmental permitting strategies for energy generation projects in the U.S., focusing on PJM and MISO markets, including NY, PA, OH, IL, and MD, and supporting other markets and projects as needed.
Oversee scoping and managing complex environmental regulatory compliance processes, including environmental resource studies, permitting, and mitigation negotiation, internally and with outside consultants.
Conduct environmental due diligence for development and acquisition (M&A) opportunities and prepare associated documentation.
Lead coordination efforts with local, state, and federal agencies.
Review technical reports such as Phase I ESAs, wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and cultural resource surveys.
Provide subject matter expertise during financing, responding to Independent Engineers and external legal counsel, advising on environmental risk in contractual terms, and supporting internal teams with environmental documentation.
Review plans for environmental management during construction, including stormwater management and spill prevention plans.
Lead and oversee consultant work, advising on scope, pricing, and selection.
Advise in the development and implementation of programmatic procedures and policies for continuous compliance with environmental regulations.
Prepare environmental content for marketing proposals, plans of development, and zoning applications.
Assist in developing protocols for ongoing compliance during operations and maintenance.
Participate in regional and national initiatives, symposia, conferences, and industry groups.

Requirements

Experience and expertise interpreting federal and state environmental laws (ESA, NEPA, CWA, NHPA), guidelines, and policies.
5+ years professional experience in environmental permitting and/or compliance in Northeastern U.S. or Central U.S. markets.
Experience in NY is a plus.

Salary/Compensations

$100,000–$145,000 plus bonus and benefits
