About the Role

This service provides 24/7 support to people experiencing a mental health and/or addiction crisis in northwest Toronto. This program is part of a City of Toronto police reform initiative evaluating non-police-led responses to non-violent crises, aiming to reduce harm for marginalized individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical service delivery, program planning and evaluation, quality and human resource management.
  • Offer strong, on-site clinical leadership to an interdisciplinary team.
  • Deliver effective mobile support and follow-up to individuals experiencing a crisis.
  • Support ongoing program operations to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Promote client-centered, trauma- and violence-informed care with an emphasis on harm reduction, anti-discrimination, anti-oppression, and culturally safe care.
  • Employ an open and collaborative approach with staff, clients, families, partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to team members and administrative support.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and performance management of program staff.
  • Identify and implement quality improvement opportunities.
  • Support consultation to internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of client services.
  • Ensure services achieve excellence at both clinical and operational levels.

Requirements

  • Minimum Undergraduate Degree in Social Work/Social or Health Sciences or equivalent.
  • Membership, in good standing, in a regulatory college is preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience working in community mental health and addictions.
  • Strong knowledge of crisis intervention and recovery principles.
  • Two (2) years of clinical leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in supporting teams to achieve desired clinical outcomes.
  • Understanding and knowledge of working with persons with mental health and/or addictions issues.
  • Understanding of the intersectionality of systemic barriers and social determinants of health.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of systemic and structural factors that impact Black, Indigenous, racialized and 2SLGBTQ2+ communities, rooted in lived experience.
  • Proven track record in working with, collaborating with, and providing crisis supports to equity-deserving communities.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of community services in the northwest Toronto area.
  • Solid understanding of empathic strain, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout.
  • Demonstrated skills in supporting teams to mitigate empathic strain, secondary traumatic stress, and burnout.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive learning culture and facilitate evidence-based quality care.
  • Ability to coach, build, and work effectively with a diverse and interdisciplinary team.
  • Skills in human resource management including recruitment and retention of staff.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and consensus-building skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and assign priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching, and team-building skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, best practice, and innovation in service delivery.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a vehicle, and insurance coverage.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend shifts as required.
  • Must adhere to COVID-19 policy and provide proof of vaccination.
