About the Role

The Batching Operator mixes large quantities of raw materials to cook sauces, condiments, and salad dressings. This role involves interpreting formulas, measuring ingredients, and mixing products on multiple batching stations while adhering to customer specifications, food safety standards, and health and safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Check schedules and report to assigned batching station
  • Perform pre-operation and safety inspections according to good manufacturing practices
  • Assemble and connect hoses, ensuring they are clean before use
  • Turn on machinery and program ingredients using HMI
  • Retrieve spices and ingredients from Spice Preparers and Material Handlers
  • Confirm ingredient quantities using mental math or a calculator
  • Cook sauces while adhering to critical control point measures and taking samples to the quality assurance lab
  • Transfer finished product to holding tanks or filling machines
  • Reset and restart processes for subsequent batches
  • Perform cleaning in place (CIP) processes for product changeovers
  • Meet targets by ensuring efficiency and safety protocols are met
  • Communicate with Material Handlers to manage heavy ingredients and maintain a clean station
  • Learn and operate proficiently on multiple batching stations
  • Assist other Cooks on several platforms as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in food manufacturing required
  • Minimum High School Diploma required
  • Experience in cooking preferred
  • Experience operating a lift truck preferred
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to understand and interpret HMI systems
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand for long hours
  • Ability to work at heights of up to 15 feet
  • Ability to work in environments with high noise levels
  • Ability to work in environments with temperature changes, heat, humidity, and cold
  • Ability to work in environments with dust, allergens, and strong scents
