About the Role
The Dietary Cook works under the supervision of the Program Director/Designee, assisting residents with daily routines and encouraging participation in recovery-focused activities. This role involves performing food service and preparation in accordance with SJATRC's policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Executes high-quality food preparation to meet menu standards.
- Ensures compliance with safety and cleanliness regulations.
- Monitors inventory, reports discrepancies, and tracks usage trends.
- Prepares nutritious and appealing meals as directed.
- Maintains overall cleanliness of the kitchen, coolers, storerooms, and dining areas.
- Organizes coolers and storerooms in preparation for incoming deliveries.
- Plans, prepares, and packs meals for scheduled day trips.
- Assists on-duty cooks with meal preparation and special events as needed.
- Reports any resident concerns to the Food Services Director or appropriate clinical staff.
- Oversees the setup, breakdown, and execution of dietary services for training sessions.
- Communicates effectively with staff and residents.
- Provides guidance to assigned residents on performing their duties correctly.
- Orients new residents to the facility, local area, and available community resources.
- Supports residents in their personal growth and sobriety while assisting with milieu management.
- Takes appropriate action to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and the facility.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Work experience relevant to degree and certification requirements
- Is trustworthy in safeguarding confidential information
- Maintains and pursues continued professional education
